- About The Artist -

NightParrot_edited.jpg

Growing up in the Australian outback, Emma has fostered a deep understanding and appreciation for nature, which shines through in her unique ink dot illustrations. Spending much of her childhood living on cattle stations, Emma's art is infused with a sense of realism and detail that is rarely seen.

Emma has labelled the technique 'strataism' due to its layering, however she uses a combination of pointillism, stippling, and tattoo art. Emma employs highly detailed and sharply realistic techniques to create her artwork. Her use of pigment fibre tip ink pens is particularly noteworthy, and she is one of the few artists in the world to utilise this method.

Inspired by the illustrations found in biology textbooks, natural history museums, and botanical gardens, Emma's technical illustrations help to communicate the intricate details of biological structures.

When asked about her creative process, Emma reflects on the possibilities of pointillism ink drawings and constantly pushes herself to explore new directions and techniques. In search of a unique approach, she experiments with a range of mediums, combining watercolour paints, ink washes, and colour fibre tip ink pens to create vibrant and rich works of art.
